Most avoidable outages come down to a date nobody was watching.
WHERE THE DATES ARE
Services > My Services shows next due dates for hosting and recurring services. Domains > My Domains shows domain expiry dates, tracked separately. The dashboard highlights anything approaching.
THE TWO ARE DIFFERENT
Hosting suspension is reversible: pay and it comes back. Domain expiry is not forgiving: the domain stops resolving, enters a costly redemption period, and is eventually released for anyone to register.
PROTECTING YOURSELF
Enable auto-renewal on both hosting and domains, and keep a valid card on file. Keep your contact email current and on a domain we do not host. Note the dates somewhere outside the system, such as a calendar with a reminder a month ahead. Register important domains for several years at once. Pay early if you will be travelling or otherwise unavailable around a renewal.
IF DATES ARE SCATTERED THROUGH THE YEAR
Open a ticket and ask about aligning them onto a single date, which usually involves a short prorated adjustment. One renewal a year is far easier to keep track of than seven.
