Helping people find you.
WHEN TO INCLUDE A MAP
If customers visit your premises. Otherwise it adds weight for no benefit.
PRACTICAL POINTS
Embedded maps are heavy. Load the map only when clicked, or link to it rather than embedding, if speed matters.
Always include the address as text as well. Text can be copied, searched and read by assistive technology; a map cannot.
WHAT TO INCLUDE
Full address Landmarks, which are frequently more useful locally than a street address Parking information Public transport, where relevant Which entrance to use, if not obvious
FOR NIGERIAN ADDRESSES
Describing the location relative to a known landmark is often more useful than the formal address alone.
OPENING HOURS
Beside the address, and matching your business profile exactly.
Including holiday variations, which is where most businesses' listed hours go wrong.
FOR SERVICE BUSINESSES WITHOUT PREMISES
State the areas you cover rather than an address. A map is unnecessary.
TESTING
Check the map actually points at your premises. Automatically generated pins are frequently slightly wrong.
