The text people read first.
THE PAGE TITLE
What appears in the browser tab and as the headline in search results.
Make it descriptive and specific: "Solar installation in Lagos" rather than "Services" or your business name alone.
One unique title per page. Duplicates across a site are common and easily fixed.
THE MAIN HEADING
The visible heading at the top of the page. It should say what the page covers, plainly.
One per page.
SUBHEADINGS
Break the content into sections. Someone scanning the headings should understand the page's shape.
Descriptive rather than clever: "How much it costs" beats "Investment".
WHY IT MATTERS
Most visitors scan headings before reading anything. Headings that say nothing mean they find nothing and leave.
Search engines use them to understand structure.
ORDER
Use heading levels in order. Do not skip levels for styling reasons; change the styling instead.
THE COMMON FAULT
Headings used as decoration, chosen for how they look rather than what they say.
