Setting Up Abandoned Cart Recovery Print

Recovering sales that were nearly made.

HOW IT WORKS

A plugin records carts where the customer entered an email address but did not complete. It then emails them a reminder with a link back to their cart.

SETTING IT UP

Install an abandoned cart plugin and configure the timing and content.

These rely on scheduled actions. With HTTP wp-cron blocked on our servers, the real cron job must be configured or no recovery email ever sends.

THE TIMING THAT WORKS

One email a few hours after abandonment, while the intent is fresh. Optionally a second after a day.

Do not send three. It reads as pestering and produces unsubscribes and complaints.

WHAT TO SAY

Short. Remind them what they left, link straight back to the cart, and offer help if something went wrong.

A discount in the first email trains customers to abandon deliberately. Hold any discount for the second email, if you use one at all.

MEASURING

Track how many recovery emails send and how many convert. If conversion is poor, the problem is usually at checkout rather than in the email.
