Reducing steps between cart and payment.
WHAT IT MEANS
Combining the cart and checkout, or presenting all fields on one screen rather than in stages.
DOES IT HELP
Sometimes. The evidence is mixed, and the gain usually comes from removing fields and friction rather than from the layout itself.
Removing the account requirement, showing delivery costs early, and making the form work properly on a phone matter more than whether it is one page or two.
IF YOU WANT TO TRY IT
Several plugins provide one-page checkout. Test carefully: they replace a core part of WooCommerce and frequently conflict with payment gateways and field editors.
Test every payment method afterwards, on a phone, as a guest.
WHAT TO DO FIRST
Before restructuring checkout, do the cheaper things: allow guest checkout, remove unnecessary fields, show delivery costs before the final step, and make sure the page loads quickly.
Those account for most abandoned carts. Layout is a smaller factor than it is usually credited with.
