Reducing Abandoned Carts Print

Most people who add to a cart do not buy. Some of that is recoverable.

THE COMMON CAUSES

Unexpected delivery cost at the final step Being forced to create an account A long checkout form No payment method the customer trusts No visible contact details, so the shop feels risky A slow or broken checkout on a phone

WHAT FIXES MOST OF IT

Show delivery costs before checkout, or offer free delivery above a threshold Allow guest checkout Remove fields you do not genuinely need Offer bank transfer as well as cards Put a phone number and address in the footer Test checkout on a phone regularly

RECOVERY EMAILS

Plugins can email customers who left items behind. Used sparingly, one reminder after a few hours recovers a meaningful share.

Do not send three. It reads as pestering and produces unsubscribes.

These rely on cron, so the real cron job must be configured.

MEASURING

Check how many carts are created against orders completed. If the gap is large, work through the causes above before spending money on traffic.
