The product screen has many fields; most are optional.
THE MINIMUM
- Products > Add New.
- Enter the product name.
- Write the long description in the main editor.
- Under Product data, choose Simple product and set the Regular price.
- Add a Product image and a few gallery images.
- Write a short description, which appears next to the price.
- Assign a category.
- Publish.
WORTH SETTING TOO
SKU, under Inventory Stock quantity, if you want WooCommerce to track it Weight and dimensions, if shipping is calculated by them Shipping class, if some products cost more to send
PRODUCT TYPES
- Simple: one item, one price
- Variable: options such as size or colour, each with its own price and stock
- Grouped: a set of related products sold together
- External: listed here, purchased elsewhere
START SIMPLE
Publish three products and run a test order end to end before adding a hundred. Problems found with three are easy to fix.
