WooCommerce is a free plugin that turns WordPress into a shop.

INSTALLING IT

  1. Plugins > Add New, search for WooCommerce, install and activate.
  2. The setup wizard opens automatically.
  3. Enter your business address and select Nigeria as the country.
  4. Choose your currency. NGN for most Nigerian stores.
  5. Say what you sell: physical products, digital products, or both.
  6. Skip the recommended extras for now; you can add them later once you know what you need.
  7. Finish.

WHAT IT CREATES

Four pages: Shop, Cart, Checkout and My Account. Do not delete or rename these; WooCommerce depends on them and the shop breaks without them.

It also adds Products and Orders to your dashboard menu, and a WooCommerce settings section.

IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS

Go to WooCommerce > Settings > General and confirm the currency, currency position and thousand separator look right for Nigerian pricing.

Then set up a payment gateway before adding products. A shop that cannot take money is not a shop.
