WooCommerce is a free plugin that turns WordPress into a shop.
INSTALLING IT
- Plugins > Add New, search for WooCommerce, install and activate.
- The setup wizard opens automatically.
- Enter your business address and select Nigeria as the country.
- Choose your currency. NGN for most Nigerian stores.
- Say what you sell: physical products, digital products, or both.
- Skip the recommended extras for now; you can add them later once you know what you need.
- Finish.
WHAT IT CREATES
Four pages: Shop, Cart, Checkout and My Account. Do not delete or rename these; WooCommerce depends on them and the shop breaks without them.
It also adds Products and Orders to your dashboard menu, and a WooCommerce settings section.
IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS
Go to WooCommerce > Settings > General and confirm the currency, currency position and thousand separator look right for Nigerian pricing.
Then set up a payment gateway before adding products. A shop that cannot take money is not a shop.
