Your client warns that the certificate does not match the server.
WHAT IT MEANS
You connected to mail.yourdomain.com but the certificate presented covers a different name, usually the server's own hostname.
WHY IT HAPPENS
AutoSSL has not issued a certificate covering the mail subdomain The domain does not yet resolve to our server The mail subdomain is proxied through Cloudflare, which prevents validation
THE PROPER FIX
- Confirm the domain resolves to us.
- If you use Cloudflare, set the mail record to DNS-only.
- cPanel > SSL/TLS Status, tick the domain and its mail subdomain, run AutoSSL.
- Wait a few minutes and reconnect.
THE INTERIM FIX
Use the server hostname from your welcome email as the mail server in your client. That name is covered by the server's own certificate.
WHAT NOT TO DO
Do not permanently accept an invalid certificate or disable verification. That removes the protection on your password in transit and hides a genuine problem if one appears later.
