The mail app built into Windows.
THE STEPS
- Open Mail and go to Accounts > Add account.
- Choose Advanced setup, then Internet email.
- Email address and username: the full email address.
- Password: as set in cPanel.
- Account name and the name shown on sent messages: as you wish.
- Incoming email server: mail.yourdomain.com:993
- Account type: IMAP4.
- Outgoing server: mail.yourdomain.com:465
- Leave all four tick boxes enabled, including "Outgoing server requires authentication" and "Use the same username and password".
NOTE THE PORT SYNTAX
Windows Mail expects the port appended to the hostname with a colon. Omitting it is the most common cause of setup failing here.
LIMITATIONS
Windows Mail is basic: limited folder handling, limited search and no rules. For business use, Outlook or Thunderbird is a better tool.
Microsoft has been phasing this app out in favour of the newer Outlook. If yours prompts to migrate, expect to re-enter these settings.
