Setting Up Email in Samsung Email Print

The app pre-installed on many Samsung phones.

THE STEPS

  1. Open Samsung Email and tap Other if prompted for a provider.
  2. Enter the full email address and password, then tap Manual Setup.
  3. Choose IMAP account.
  4. Incoming: server mail.yourdomain.com, security type SSL, port 993, username the full address.
  5. Outgoing: SMTP server mail.yourdomain.com, security type SSL, port 465, with "Require sign-in" ticked.
  6. Tap Sign in, set the sync options, and finish.

IF IT REFUSES TO CONNECT

Try SSL with port 465 first; if that fails, TLS with port 587. Confirm the username is the full address, which the app sometimes shortens automatically when you tab between fields. If the domain does not yet resolve to us, use the server hostname from your welcome email instead of mail.yourdomain.com.

SYNC AND BATTERY

The default sync schedule is often aggressive. Every fifteen minutes is adequate for business mail and noticeably kinder to the battery.

Set the signature under Settings for that account.
