Do it yourself with an IMAP client. Connect both the old and new mailboxes in Thunderbird, then drag folders from one to the other. Slow, but it works with any provider and you can see what transferred.
Use a migration tool, where the old provider offers an export or the new one offers an import.
THE ORDER THAT AVOIDS LOSS
- Create every mailbox on the new server first, with the same addresses.
- Copy the existing mail across while the old server is still receiving.
- Change the MX records.
- Watch both servers for a few days, since mail may arrive at either during propagation.
- Copy across anything that arrived at the old server after your first copy.
- Only then close the old account.
WHAT PEOPLE FORGET
Sent items and folders other than the inbox. Copy everything, not just the inbox.
