cPanel includes SpamAssassin, which scores incoming mail and acts on the score.
ENABLING IT
cPanel > Spam Filters. Switch on "Process New Emails and Mark them as Spam".
Set the Spam Threshold Score. 5 is the default. Lower catches more spam but risks catching legitimate mail; 3 is aggressive, 8 is lenient.
WHAT TO DO WITH SPAM
Spam Box delivers suspected spam to a separate folder you can review. This is the safer option and what we recommend. Auto-Delete discards mail above a score you set. Only use this at a high threshold, and understand that deleted mail cannot be recovered.
WHITELIST AND BLACKLIST
Under Additional Configurations, add trusted senders to the whitelist so their mail is never filtered, and persistent nuisance senders to the blacklist.
PRACTICAL ADVICE
Review the Spam folder weekly at first, until you trust the threshold. Empty it regularly; it counts against your disk quota. Do not set the threshold so low that customer enquiries are filtered. A missed enquiry costs more than a spam message.
