An address at your own domain is included with your hosting and is worth setting up on the first day.
WHY IT MATTERS
A business emailing customers from a free webmail address looks improvised. An address at your domain signals that the business is established and that the domain is genuinely yours. You keep control. A free address belongs to the provider. If the account is closed or compromised you lose the address and everyone who contacts it. It scales. You can create addresses for departments and staff, and reassign them when people change roles. It reinforces your domain every time you send a message.
WHAT YOU GET WITH HOSTING
Mailboxes at your domain, webmail access, forwarders, autoresponders, spam filtering, and the ability to set the same addresses up on phones and computers.
WHERE TO START
cPanel > Email Accounts > Create. Make one address first, set it up on your phone, and confirm you can send and receive before creating the rest.
WHAT TO KNOW EARLY
Mailboxes draw from the same disk space as your website, and mail sent through hosting has hourly limits. Both are covered in later articles.
