WHEN TO USE IT
You own several extensions of your name and want them all to reach one site You own a common misspelling You have rebranded and want the old domain to reach the new one You own a campaign domain pointing at a page on your main site
HOW TO SET IT UP
If the domain is registered with us and uses our DNS, Domains > My Domains offers forwarding options.
If the domain is hosted here as an alias, cPanel > Aliases > Manage Redirection, or cPanel > Redirects for finer control.
PERMANENT OR TEMPORARY
Use Permanent (301) for anything lasting. It tells search engines the move is final and transfers ranking. Use Temporary (302) only for genuinely short-term diversions.
WHY REDIRECT RATHER THAN MIRROR
Serving identical content on two addresses can split your search rankings and confuse visitors about which is canonical. A redirect consolidates everything on one name.
AFTER SETTING IT UP
Run AutoSSL on the forwarding domain, or visitors reaching it over HTTPS see a certificate warning before the redirect takes effect.
Test in a private browsing window, since redirects cache aggressively.
