DOMAIN NAME

The address people type to reach your site.

REGISTRAR

The company through which a domain is registered.

REGISTRANT

The person or organisation the domain is registered to.

The name that matters if control is disputed.

TLD

The top-level domain: the part after the final dot.

CCTLD

A country-code top-level domain, such as a Nigerian extension.

SUBDOMAIN

A section before the main domain, resolving separately.

ADDON DOMAIN

An additional domain hosted in the same cPanel account, with its own folder.

PARKED DOMAIN OR ALIAS

A domain showing the same content as your main one.

REGISTRAR LOCK

A setting preventing unauthorised transfer.

AUTH CODE OR EPP CODE

The authorisation code required to transfer a domain between registrars.

REDEMPTION PERIOD

The stage after expiry where a domain can still be recovered, at higher cost.

WHOIS

The record of registration details, subject to privacy settings.
