An EPP code, also called an authorisation or auth code, is the password proving you control a domain. It is required to transfer a domain between registrars.
GETTING YOURS FROM US
Domains > My Domains > click the domain > request the EPP code. It is either displayed or emailed to the registrant address.
The code is case-sensitive and often contains symbols. Copy it rather than retyping it.
BEFORE REQUESTING IT
Unlock the domain. Confirm the registrant email address is current and reachable. Disable ID protection if it would block the approval email.
WHY IT MIGHT NOT ARRIVE
The registrant email address is wrong or unmonitored Privacy protection is intercepting it It went to spam The domain is within a registry lock period that blocks transfers anyway
SECURITY
Treat the code as a password. Anyone holding it, with the domain unlocked, can initiate a transfer. Request it only when you are actually transferring, and do not store it anywhere insecure.
If you requested a code and decided not to transfer, re-lock the domain. Codes can usually be regenerated, which invalidates the old one.
