Why encryption matters.

cPanel lists both secure and insecure options.
Always choose secure.
WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE WRONG SETTING
Either it fails to connect, or it connects insecurely.
Neither is what you want.
CERTIFICATE WARNINGS
If your client warns about a certificate, do not simply accept it permanently.
Usually it means you used the domain name rather than the server hostname.
Use the hostname cPanel provides.

Disable certificate checking to make it work Use insecure ports because they connected

That every device uses encrypted settings.
Old devices configured years ago frequently do not.
WHAT TO DO ON PUBLIC NETWORKS
Prefer webmail over HTTPS, or ensure your client is using encryption.
