Working with what you have.

WHY IT MATTERS

Improving an existing page that already receives traffic frequently produces more than writing a new one.

WHAT TO UPDATE

Pages receiving traffic but few enquiries Pages losing position Anything containing out-of-date information

WHAT TO CHECK IN AN OLD ARTICLE

Prices and figures Anything describing how something works Links that no longer function Whether it still reflects what you do

WHAT TO ADD

Questions readers ask that the article does not answer Recent examples A clearer next step

WHAT TO REMOVE

Padding Anything no longer true

WHEN TO UPDATE RATHER THAN REWRITE

When the subject is unchanged and the page has established position.

Updating preserves that. Replacing it loses it.

WHAT TO DO WITH GENUINELY OBSOLETE CONTENT

Update, redirect to a replacement, or mark clearly as historic.

Not simply delete, if it has traffic or links.

HOW OFTEN

Review your main pages annually.
