CHECK THE ERROR LOG
Even if the site appears fine. Warnings there indicate future problems.
IF SOMETHING BREAKS
Change back immediately. The site works again.
Then identify the offending component.
HOW TO IDENTIFY IT
The error log names the file. That tells you which plugin, theme or custom code is responsible.
MOVING UP GRADUALLY
If a large jump breaks things, move up one version at a time.
