Finding out what you are running.

IN CPANEL

The PHP selector shows the current version for your account and per directory.

IN WORDPRESS

Tools, then Site Health, then Info. It reports the server's PHP version.

IN YOUR HOSTING STATISTICS

The cPanel sidebar shows it on many configurations.

WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN

Major version, then minor. Higher is newer.

WHAT IS CURRENT

Supported versions change over time. Check which versions are currently available in your cPanel selector.

Anything at the bottom of that list is likely to be old.

WHAT IF YOU ARE ON AN OLD VERSION

It still works, until an application requires newer, or a vulnerability is found and never patched.

Plan an upgrade rather than waiting.

WHAT TO CHECK ALONGSIDE

Whether your applications, themes and plugins support the version you intend to move to.

WHERE TO FIND THAT

The application's own documentation or requirements page.
