Optional extras at registration.
ID PROTECTION
Where available for the extension, this replaces your personal details in the public WHOIS record with the provider's.
WHY YOU MIGHT WANT IT
Your registration details are otherwise publicly visible, including your address and phone number.
That attracts unsolicited contact and, occasionally, targeted fraud.
WHY YOU MIGHT NOT
Some businesses prefer their details visible as a trust signal.
Some extensions do not support it.
Some registries display limited information regardless.
REGISTRAR LOCK
Enabled by default on most domains. It prevents unauthorised transfers.
Leave it on except when you are deliberately transferring.
AUTO-RENEWAL
Not a protection product, and the most important protection available.
Enable it. A lapsed domain takes down your website and your email.
WHERE TO SET THESE
Client Area > Domains > select the domain.
WHAT WE RECOMMEND
Auto-renewal on, always Registrar lock on ID protection where available and where you prefer privacy
