JetBackup holds scheduled server-side backups of your account and lets you restore them yourself.

OPENING IT

cPanel > JetBackup under Files. The dashboard lists the backup types available on your plan.

RESTORE TYPES

  • Full Backups: the entire account. Use this after a serious compromise or total failure.
  • File Backups: browse the file tree at a chosen date and restore a single file, a folder, or everything.
  • Database Backups: restore one database at a chosen point in time.

Cron Job Backups, Email Backups and others may also be available.

RESTORING

  1. Choose the backup type.
  2. Select the restore point by date.
  3. Tick what you want restored.
  4. Click Restore and confirm.
  5. The job is queued. You will be notified when it completes.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Restoring overwrites the current version. Download a copy of the current state first if it contains anything you have not backed up elsewhere. Restoring files without the matching database, or the reverse, can leave a site in an inconsistent state. For a site rollback, restore both from the same date. Retention depends on your plan. Do not assume a backup from six months ago exists.
