Take your own backup before any significant change. Do not rely solely on ours.
FULL ACCOUNT BACKUP
- In cPanel open Backup under Files.
- Click "Download a Full Account Backup".
- Leave the destination as Home Directory and click Generate Backup.
- You are emailed when it is ready. Return to the page and download the archive.
- Delete the archive from the server afterwards, as it counts against your disk quota.
This includes files, databases, email and settings. It cannot be restored by you from cPanel; open a ticket and we will restore it.
PARTIAL BACKUPS
The same page offers separate downloads for the home directory, individual databases, forwarders and filters. Partial backups CAN be restored by you from the same page, which makes them more practical day to day.
BACKUP WIZARD
A step-by-step version of the same tool for those who prefer guidance.
GOOD PRACTICE
Keep backups off the server. A backup stored only on the same account is lost in the same failure that loses the site. Take one before every update, migration or design change. Test a restore at least once, otherwise you do not know whether the backup works.
