Installing Applications with Softaculous Print

Softaculous installs hundreds of web applications in a few clicks, creating the database and files for you.

INSTALLING

  1. In cPanel open Softaculous Apps Installer under Software.
  2. Find the application, by category or through the search box.
  3. Click Install Now.
  4. Choose the protocol (https:// once your certificate is active) and the domain.
  5. Clear the "In Directory" box unless you deliberately want the app in a subfolder. Leaving the default puts your site at yourdomain.com/wp
  6. Set the admin username and a strong password, and enter a working email.
  7. Click Install.

MANAGING EXISTING INSTALLS

The Installations page (the box icon at the top right) lists everything Softaculous installed, with buttons to clone, create a staging copy, back up, update or remove.

WHAT IT IS GOOD AND BAD AT

Good for a clean, fast install and for spinning up a staging copy. Removal via Softaculous deletes the files, database and user together, which is tidier than doing it by hand. Its automatic updates can break customised sites. Test on staging before enabling them on a production site. Its backups sit on the same server and count against your quota. Keep an off-server copy too.
