Making and selling products.
WHAT THE SITE MUST SHOW
What you make Specifications and options Minimum quantities, if you have them Lead times How to order
TWO AUDIENCES
Retail customers buying one, and trade customers buying quantity. They need different information and frequently different pricing.
Separate them clearly rather than confusing both.
LEAD TIMES
State them honestly. Manufacturing takes time, and customers accept that when told in advance and not when discovered afterwards.
CUSTOM ORDERS
If you make to order, explain the process: specification, quotation, deposit, production, delivery.
A form capturing what you need to quote saves considerable correspondence.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Of your actual products and, valuably, of the making. Process photographs establish that you genuinely manufacture rather than resell.
CAPACITY
Do not sell more than you can make. Overselling a handmade product damages a reputation that took years to build.
WHOLESALE
If you supply retailers, a separate page with terms and minimums.
