What gateways need.

WHY IT MATTERS

Payment gateways settle to a bank account. Most require that account to be in the business's name, matching the registered entity.

A personal account may be accepted in some arrangements, usually with lower limits and additional verification.

WHAT YOU WILL TYPICALLY NEED

Business registration documents Identification for the signatories Proof of address Whatever else the bank requires

VERIFICATION AT THE GATEWAY

Paystack and Flutterwave both verify businesses before enabling settlement. Have your documentation ready; incomplete submissions cause delays.

MATCHING DETAILS

The business name on your registration, your bank account and your gateway account should match exactly. Mismatches cause verification failures and settlement problems.

This is the most common cause of a gateway account being held in verification.

SEPARATING BUSINESS AND PERSONAL

Use a business account for business income. Mixing them makes accounting difficult and creates problems at tax time.

IF YOU ARE NOT YET REGISTERED

Some gateways offer arrangements for unregistered businesses, with limitations. Check current requirements with the gateway directly.
