Getting paid for services.
WHAT AN INVOICE NEEDS
Your business name and address Your registration details, where you have them The invoice number and date The customer's details What was supplied, itemised The amount, with tax shown separately if applicable Payment details and terms When payment is due
SENDING THEM
Email, from an address on your own domain. An invoice from a Gmail address is less likely to be paid promptly and more likely to be filed as spam.
Configure SPF and DKIM, or your invoices land in spam and you chase payments that were never seen.
PAYMENT LINKS
Both Paystack and Flutterwave offer payment links or invoice features, letting a customer pay by card or transfer from the invoice.
That is considerably more effective than publishing bank details and waiting.
RECORD KEEPING
Keep copies. You will need them for your accountant and for any dispute.
CHASING PAYMENT
Send a reminder before the due date, not only after. Most late payment is oversight rather than refusal.
TOOLS
A self-hosted invoicing application, or a hosted service. Both work; the hosted one requires no maintenance.
