A forwarder sends mail arriving at one address on to another automatically. It uses no storage of its own.

CREATING ONE

  1. In cPanel open Forwarders under Email.
  2. Click "Add Forwarder".
  3. Enter the address to forward, such as sales
  4. Choose the domain.
  5. Select "Forward to Email Address" and enter the destination.
  6. Click Add Forwarder.

COMMON USES

Sending info@ to a mailbox someone actually checks. Keeping a departed employee's address alive by forwarding to a colleague, instead of paying for an unused mailbox. Forwarding several departmental addresses to one inbox. Forwarding a whole domain's mail to another domain using a Domain Forwarder.

A WARNING ABOUT FORWARDING TO GMAIL

Forwarding to Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook can cause delivery problems. The receiving provider sees mail arriving from our server on behalf of the original sender, which can fail SPF checks and land the message in spam, or bounce it.

If mail forwarded to Gmail disappears, set up the mailbox properly in Gmail using "Check mail from other accounts" instead of forwarding.
