Creating an Email Account in cPanel Print

A professional address on your own domain is included with every hosting plan.

CREATING IT

  1. In cPanel open Email Accounts under Email.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Choose the domain from the dropdown if you host more than one.
  4. Enter the part before the @, such as info or sales.
  5. Set a strong password, or use the generator.
  6. Set the storage space. 1GB suits most mailboxes. Unlimited draws from your total account quota, which can fill the account unnoticed.
  7. Click Create.

ACCESSING IT

Webmail at https://yourdomain.com/webmail, or click "Check Email" beside the account in cPanel. Or set it up in Outlook, Apple Mail or your phone using the settings under "Connect Devices".

GOOD PRACTICE

Use role addresses such as info@, support@ and accounts@ rather than personal names where possible, as they survive staff changes. Set quotas rather than unlimited, so one mailbox cannot consume the whole account. Delete mailboxes for people who have left, or convert them to forwarders. Mailbox passwords are separate from your cPanel password. Changing one does not change the other.
