A full account breaks uploads, email delivery and database writes. Here is where the space usually goes.

FIND IT FIRST

cPanel > Disk Usage shows a breakdown by folder, largest first. Work from the top of that list rather than guessing.

THE USUAL CULPRITS

Backup archives left in public_html or the home directory by backup plugins or by the cPanel backup tool. Cache folders from caching plugins. Old email, particularly large attachments and full Trash and Junk folders.

Log files: error_log files scattered through the account, and WordPress debug.log left enabled.

Old installations in subfolders you no longer use. Media libraries full of oversized original images. Stale staging or development copies of a site.

CLEANING UP

  1. Delete backup archives from the server and keep them in Google Drive or Dropbox instead.
  2. Empty Trash and Junk in every mailbox, and check Disk Usage under Email Accounts.
  3. Delete any error_log files. They regenerate if needed.
  4. Remove software you no longer use, including its database.
  5. Empty the .trash folder in File Manager, as deleted files sit there and still count.

If you are still tight after all this, open a ticket about an upgrade.
