The panel on the right of the cPanel home page shows what you are using against what your plan allows. Learning to read it saves a lot of troubleshooting time.
THE KEY FIGURES
- Disk Usage: total space used by files, databases and email combined.
- File Usage (inodes): the total NUMBER of files, regardless of size. Thousands of small image thumbnails, cache files and emails count here.
- Monthly Bandwidth Transfer: data served to visitors this month. Resets at the start of each billing month.
- MySQL Disk Usage: space used by your databases only.
Email Accounts, Databases, Subdomains, Addon Domains, FTP Accounts: counted against plan allowances.
Entry Processes and CPU: how many requests your account is running at once (see Resource Usage for detail).
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE LIMIT
Disk or inode limit reached: uploads fail, email stops being delivered, WordPress cannot write cache or backups, and databases may become read-only. This is the cause of most "suddenly broken" sites.
Bandwidth limit reached: the site stops serving until the month rolls over or the plan is upgraded.
WHAT TO DO
Clear backup archives, cache folders and old emails first. If you are consistently near a limit after cleaning, open a ticket and we will recommend the right plan.
