Nothing changed, and now every visitor sees a warning.
THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE
The certificate expired. Renewal has probably been failing for weeks while notices went to an unmonitored address.
Check cPanel > SSL/TLS Status first. The expiry date tells you immediately.
OTHER CAUSES
A DNS change repointed the domain, so AutoSSL could no longer validate Cloudflare was enabled, or its SSL mode changed A plugin or security tool started blocking the validation path A subdomain was removed from DNS while a certificate covering it was in use The account was migrated to a different server
WHAT TO CHECK IN ORDER
- Expiry date in SSL/TLS Status.
- Whether the domain still resolves to our server.
- Whether anything was changed in Cloudflare recently.
- Whether a plugin was installed or updated around the time it started.
THE QUICK FIX
Run AutoSSL. If the underlying cause is resolved, this restores service within minutes.
IF IT KEEPS RECURRING
Something is repeatedly breaking renewal. Fix that rather than running AutoSSL manually each time. Open a ticket with the domain name.
