Getting a certificate from an authority onto your account.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

The certificate itself An intermediate or CA bundle Sometimes both combined in one file

THE STEPS

  1. cPanel > SSL/TLS > Manage SSL sites.
  2. Select the domain.
  3. Paste the certificate into the Certificate field.
  4. The private key should populate automatically from the one generated with your CSR. If not, paste it from SSL/TLS > Private Keys.
  5. Paste the intermediate bundle into the Certificate Authority Bundle field.
  6. Install Certificate.

DO NOT SKIP THE BUNDLE

Omitting the intermediate is the most common installation error. The site then works in some browsers and fails in others, particularly mobile.

AFTERWARDS

Exclude the domain from AutoSSL so it does not replace your certificate Verify with an online SSL checker that the chain is complete Note the expiry date with a calendar reminder a month ahead

IF THE PRIVATE KEY DOES NOT MATCH

The certificate was issued for a different CSR. You need the key generated with that request, or a reissue.
