Renewal is automatic and requires nothing from you.
THE PROCESS
AutoSSL checks certificates on a schedule and renews any approaching expiry, typically well in advance. The new certificate is installed automatically with no interruption.
WHY THIS MATTERS
The most common cause of a site suddenly showing a security warning is a manually installed certificate that expired because nobody remembered to renew it. AutoSSL removes that failure mode entirely.
WHEN RENEWAL FAILS
The same reasons initial issue fails: the domain no longer resolves here, a proxy is blocking validation, a redirect is intercepting the validation path, or the subdomain no longer exists.
You receive a notification when AutoSSL cannot renew, provided your cPanel contact address is current and monitored.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET ONE
Check SSL/TLS Status and click the failing domain for the reason. Most causes are in the troubleshooting articles here.
Do not ignore it. A certificate that fails renewal eventually expires, and then every visitor sees a warning.
