When the Shared IP Changes Print

Shared addresses can change, usually during migrations or network reconfiguration.

WHEN IT HAPPENS

Account migration to a different server Network changes on the existing server Address reallocation

WHAT WE DO

Notify you in advance where the change is planned, and update DNS where we host it.

WHAT TO CHECK AFTERWARDS

DNS records, if hosted at Cloudflare or another provider SPF records naming an address rather than a hostname Third-party whitelists Monitoring services configured against a literal address Any application configuration referencing the address

WHY THIS MATTERS MORE THAN IT SEEMS

Integrations fail silently. A payment gateway whitelist that was never updated does not announce itself until a customer tries to pay, which may be days later.

A PRACTICAL HABIT

Keep a short note of everywhere your server address has been supplied. When it changes, work through the list rather than trying to remember.

If you hold a dedicated IP specifically because a third party requires a fixed address, tell us, so we can flag it if a migration is planned.
