For volume, a sending provider beats a dedicated IP on hosting.

WHEN THIS APPLIES

You send newsletters or campaigns You send hundreds of transactional messages a day Deliverability is commercially important You need delivery reporting, bounce handling and complaint feedback

WHY A SENDING PROVIDER IS BETTER

They manage IP reputation professionally, across warmed address pools They handle bounces and complaints automatically They provide delivery analytics you cannot get from hosting They are not subject to shared hosting's hourly sending limits They maintain relationships with major receiving providers

THE OPTIONS

SendGrid, Brevo, Mailgun and similar services. Most have free tiers adequate for modest volumes.

HOW TO USE ONE

Configure your site to send through them via SMTP or their API, rather than through PHP mail or your hosting mailbox. In WordPress, an SMTP plugin handles this.

Update your SPF record to authorise them.

WHAT TO KEEP ON HOSTING

Ordinary business correspondence from your mailboxes. That is what hosting mail is for.
