Social media converts poorly for hosting, with exceptions.

WHY IT USUALLY DOES NOT WORK

People scrolling social media are not in the middle of building a website. The intent that makes search traffic convert is absent.

Links in posts are often deprioritised by the platform, and posts have a short life.

WHERE IT DOES WORK

A YouTube video covering how to build a site, with the link in the description. The viewer is actively following along. A group or community of people building businesses, where the recommendation answers an actual question someone asked. Driving traffic to your own article, which then carries the link, rather than linking directly.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Post links in groups where promotion is not allowed Reply to unrelated posts with your link Send unsolicited direct messages Buy followers or engagement

These breach the terms and produce nothing anyway.

THE BETTER USE

Treat social media as a way to get people to your content, not as a place to place affiliate links directly. The content does the conversion.
