WHY IT MATTERS
Most affiliate disputes trace to an assumption rather than a term. Someone assumed renewals paid, or that self-referral was acceptable, or that a promotional method was allowed.

IF TERMS CHANGE
Material changes are notified. Continuing to participate after the effective date constitutes acceptance, so the notices are worth reading.

Open a ticket and ask before acting on your interpretation. A short question costs nothing; a forfeited balance costs more.
