Signing your mail.

WHAT IT IS

A cryptographic signature added to outgoing mail, verified against a key published in your DNS.

WHAT IT PROVES

That the message genuinely came from your domain and was not altered.

WHY IT MATTERS

Alongside SPF, it is what receiving servers use to trust you.

HOW TO SET IT UP

cPanel Email Deliverability generates and publishes the record for domains using our DNS.

For external DNS, cPanel shows the record to add.

FOR THIRD-PARTY SENDING SERVICES

Each provides its own DKIM record to publish.

You can have several, each with its own selector.

WHAT PEOPLE MISS

Setting up DKIM for the mail server but not for a marketing platform or application that also sends.

Each sending source needs it.

WHAT TO CHECK

That the record is published and valid That outgoing mail is actually signed

HOW TO CHECK

Send a message to an address you control and examine the headers.

Or use cPanel Email Deliverability, which reports the status.
