THE ORDERS POINT
For a shop, orders may have arrived at both servers during propagation.
Check the old site's order list before cancelling.
THE FORM SUBMISSIONS POINT
If your form stores submissions in the database rather than only emailing, check the old database.
WHAT TO DOWNLOAD
A final full backup, kept for a period.
HOW LONG TO KEEP THE OLD HOSTING
A week at minimum. Longer if anything is uncertain.
The cost of another month is trivial against losing data.
IF YOU ALREADY CANCELLED
Ask the old host whether anything is recoverable.
Some retain backups briefly. Many do not.
