Expect to correct things. Field names and structures differ.
IMAGES
Frequently need downloading separately and re-uploading.
CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS
Passwords cannot be migrated. Customers will need to reset.
Tell them before, not after.
ORDER HISTORY
Can usually be imported for reference. Whether it is worth it depends on your needs.
URLS
Product and category addresses will differ. Redirect old to new or you lose search value and existing links.
PAYMENT
Reconfigure your gateway on the new platform and test a real transaction.
WHAT TO DO FIRST
Build and test the new shop fully before switching anything.
