A package is a template of limits. Create packages before creating accounts.
CREATING ONE
- WHM > Packages > Add a Package.
- Give it a clear name, such as Starter, Business or Pro.
- Set the resources: Disk Quota in MB Monthly Bandwidth in MB Max FTP Accounts, Email Accounts, Databases Max Addon Domains, Subdomains, Parked Domains Max Email per Hour
- Under Settings, choose a cPanel theme and feature list.
- Add.
SETTING SENSIBLE LIMITS
Never set anything to unlimited. Your own reseller allocation is finite, and unlimited accounts will consume it. Set a quota you can honour and upgrade individual clients as needed.
Leave headroom. If your reseller plan has 50GB, do not sell ten 5GB accounts. Sell what you can support with room for growth.
Set Max Email per Hour deliberately. It is your main defence against one compromised client mailbox damaging the sending reputation of everyone on your account.
PLANNING YOUR TIERS
Three packages is usually enough: a small one, a mid one, and one for demanding sites. More than that becomes hard to explain and hard to support.
