Registries and resellers frequently offer promotional first-year pricing to attract registrations. The renewal reflects the standard price. This is standard practice across the industry, though it surprises people.
WHY RENEWAL PRICES CHANGE OVER TIME
Registries set wholesale prices and adjust them periodically. When a registry raises its price, every registrar's price rises. Exchange rates. Most registries charge in US dollars. When the naira moves against the dollar, naira pricing follows. Registry policy changes for particular extensions.

The current price for your domain is shown on the renewal invoice and on our domain pricing page. Check before renewal if you are budgeting.
IF THE PRICE HAS CHANGED SIGNIFICANTLY
Open a ticket and ask. We will explain the specific reason for that extension. Where a multi-year renewal at the current price is possible, we will tell you.
If a renewal price no longer makes sense for a domain you do not need, let it lapse deliberately rather than by accident, after moving anything that depends on it.
