Keeping Your Billing Contact Details Current Print

Out-of-date contact details are behind a large share of the avoidable problems we see.

WHAT TO KEEP CURRENT

Client Area > Account > Edit Account Details: Email address Phone number Company name and address, which appear on invoices Any additional contacts who should receive billing emails

USE AN INDEPENDENT EMAIL ADDRESS

Do not use an address on the domain we host as your only contact. If that hosting is suspended or the domain expires, the mailbox stops working, and the notice telling you why cannot reach you. Use a Gmail, Yahoo or other external address.

ADDITIONAL CONTACTS

Under Account > Contacts you can add a colleague or accountant and choose which notifications they receive: billing only, support only, or all. This is worth doing in any business where one person handles payments and another handles the website.

DOMAIN CONTACT DETAILS ARE SEPARATE

Domains carry their own registrant contact details at the registry, updated under Domains > My Domains > Contact Information. Keeping the Client Area current does not update those, and expiry notices from the registry go to the domain contact.
