Getting what you need from something long.

STEP ONE: DECIDE WHAT YOU NEED

Not "summarise this" but "what do I need to know from this".

Obligations? Deadlines? Costs? Changes from a previous version?

STEP TWO: UPLOAD OR PASTE IT

For very long documents, split into sections.

STEP THREE: ASK SPECIFICALLY

"Summarise this, focusing on [what you need]. Answer only from the document. If something is not in it, say so."

STEP FOUR: ASK FOR THE SOURCE

"Quote the passage supporting each main point."

STEP FIVE: CHECK THE QUOTES

Against the document. Confirm they exist and mean what is claimed.

STEP SIX: EXTRACT WHAT MATTERS

"List every date, deadline and amount mentioned."

STEP SEVEN: READ THE RELEVANT PART YOURSELF

If you will act on it, read that section properly.

WHAT THIS ACHIEVES

Reading a document you would otherwise not read, and knowing which part needs your attention.
