Adaptable structures.
FOR UNDERSTANDING
"Explain [concept] as though to a twelve-year-old. Then explain it at [my actual level]. Include an example."
FOR TESTING YOURSELF
"Ask me questions on this material one at a time. Wait for my answer. Tell me what I got wrong and why."
FOR PRACTICE PROBLEMS
"Generate five practice questions on [topic] at [level]. Include answers separately. Vary difficulty."
FOR CHECKING YOUR WORK
"Here is my answer to this problem. Do not give me the correct answer. Tell me whether my method is sound and where it goes wrong."
That constraint matters. It keeps the learning with you.
FOR FINDING GAPS
"Here is the syllabus and here are my notes. What have I not covered?"
FOR A LEARNING PLAN
"I want to learn [skill]. I currently know [level]. What should I learn in what order, and what should I practise?"
THE HABIT
Attempt first. Ask for hints before answers.
