Pictures.
WHERE IT HELPS
Explaining technique and settings Diagnosing why a photograph did not work Suggesting what to try Writing captions and descriptions
FOR LEARNING
"Explain why my photographs indoors look yellow and what to do about it."
Genuinely useful for the common problems.
FOR EDITING
Many editing tools now include AI features: removing objects, adjusting, upscaling.
Useful, within limits.
WHERE THE LINE SITS
Ordinary adjustment is normal practice.
Removing or adding elements changes what the photograph shows.
For anything documentary, journalistic or evidential, that is misrepresentation.
FOR PROPERTY, PRODUCTS AND PEOPLE
Enhancement beyond ordinary adjustment misleads buyers and is regulated in some contexts.
Never present an altered image as a record of what was there.
FOR GENERATED IMAGES
Do not present them as photographs of real things, places or events.
FOR YOUR OWN WORK
Your actual photographs are more persuasive than anything generated, particularly for a local business.
