Responding properly.

THE COMMON ONES

A copyright complaint about an image A data protection request or complaint A customer dispute escalated A trademark complaint about your name or content A takedown request

WHAT TO DO FIRST

Read it properly. Establish what is actually being claimed.

Do not respond immediately in anger.

IF IT IS A COPYRIGHT COMPLAINT

Remove the material immediately, then establish whether the claim is valid.

Removing first costs you little and stops the harm accruing.

IF IT IS A DATA REQUEST

Respond within the applicable period. Ignoring it is the worst response.

IF IT IS A CUSTOMER DISPUTE

Resolve it if you can. Most escalate because nobody responded.

IF IT IS SUBSTANTIAL

Take proper advice before responding.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Ignore it Respond aggressively Admit liability before understanding the position Delete evidence

The complaint, your response, and any relevant records.
