Stating your position.
WHAT IT IS
A page describing what you have done to make the site accessible, what limitations exist, and how to report a problem.
WHO NEEDS ONE
Required for some organisations, particularly public bodies.
Good practice for anyone.
WHAT TO INCLUDE
Your commitment What standard you aim for, if any What you have done Known limitations How to contact you about a problem When it was last reviewed
WHY ADMITTING LIMITATIONS HELPS
It is honest, and it demonstrates awareness.
A statement claiming perfection is disbelieved by the first person who finds a problem.
WHAT NOT TO CLAIM
Full compliance with a standard you have not tested against.
A false claim is a statement people rely on.
THE CONTACT ROUTE
The most useful part. Someone who cannot use your site needs a way to tell you.
Make sure that route is itself accessible: a phone number as well as a form.
RESPONDING
If someone reports a problem, respond and act.
Most difficulties escalate because nobody responded.
